Open Source Standing Committee (OSSC) for Government IT office Council (GITOC) in South Africa (SA)
representing various SA Government Departments on:
(i) Disseminate Information within Government regarding FOSS or its implementation in Government.
(v) Promote training and awareness with respect to the OSS solutions.
(vi) Ensure that assistance is provided to departments and provinces in matters relating to FOSS understanding.
(vii) Be a catalyst for FOSS in terms of advocacy and change management as strategic advisors of FOSS in government including formulating and recommending government wide policies regarding the use and distribution of open source solutions.
(viii) Formalise strategic partnerships relating to open source solutions with government, industry and academia.
